Carrying on with Marvel’s streak of great comics, it’s out as of yesterday the All New Ghost Rider by Felipe Smith and Tradd Moore with colors by Val Staples.
It’s a new and unexpected take on the classic character and I couldn’t be more on board for this, please make sure to go get yourself a copy, it’s that great.
I’ve been following Tradd’s work ever since his debut with Strange Talent of Luther Strode, his work quickly evolved into something I’ve never quite seen before and it’s especially great to be able to follow this throughout every new issue of whatever project he puts out. He’s reaching a peak here with Ghost Rider and I felt inspired enough to try it myself with the above piece.
This is also a great chance to read Felipe Smith’s work, I was familiar with the art he did when in Japan with Peepo Choo but now I’ll be following this new series very closely. I remember a few years ago when he used to post some videologs on YouTube about working with manga in Japan, the bits that I never forgot were about his dedication to meet the japanese ethic and work like a bastard (his own words) to deliver great books on an incredibly short amoutn of time. While us westerners might find that a bit overkill, I think it was very inspiring and even though I don’t think I’ll ever want to work like he did in Japan, I do want to be as dedicated.
Congrats, guys! All the best of success.

I’ve always loved this page. From the context of Dick’s inner struggles of being Batman to Alfred in his normal role whilst also dealing with missing Bruce to the symbolic Robin patch torn off, on the floor. Plus the layout and how natural it feels is what makes it.
If I could buy any of Frank Quitely’s art, this would be my top pick.
Batman and Robin #2 by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely.
